Johann Nepomuk Hummel

Alongside Beethoven's pupil Carl Czerny, Johann Nepomuk Hummel is one of the most important piano teachers in the early 19th century.
A pupil of Haydn and Mozart, Hummel bridged the gap from the classical period and the emergence of the 19th century virtuoso performers, several of whom he taught. His students included some of that century’s foremost pianists, such as Mendelssohn, Hiller, Thalberg and Henselt, whose playing seems to have displayed qualities that contemporary critics associated with Hummel: clarity, eveness and quality of sound.
The selection of works by Hummel in Urtext Primo Vol. 3 contains the charming "Six Pièces très faciles" and some pieces from Hummel's piano method.
Urtext Primo Vol. 3 Stücke contains pieces by Beethoven, Schubert and Hummel. The repertoire includes well-known 'highlights' such as Beethoven's For Elise as well as surprising new material by Johann Nepomuk Hummel.
